Fall Fashion 2012 is such a flashback...you got 60's mod, 70's vintage, 80's hip-hop style and even the 90's in your face show of luxury with leather, fur all back on trend updated with a 21st century twist of course! I love it...

Fall In Love With Your Home Again...#2

I must confess I'm an indoor kind of girl...I enjoy doing home improvement projects more inside of the house than out...Don't get me wrong, I watch Curb Appeal and all those other exterior focused HGTV shows but I prefer to hire someone to do the work than myself.

However in my ode to all things fall...I so enjoy putting out a great fall wreath, pumpkins and mums in all the great fall colors. In doing that I took a look at my deck and cringed!!! It was not pretty. Take a look....I know, I know this is not pretty...

BEFORE

Recently having hired a handyman, we collaborated on the best way to proceed. There is a lot more to this than just the right color. You essentially have 3 basic options depending on how much coverage you want: 1) a light clear stain, 2) transparent with a hint of color, 3) semi-transparent and 4) full coverage - essentially paint.

I chose a semi-transparent because I still wanted the natural wood grain to show through but still see the great color. I chose a reddish -brown stain to match my fall mood! Also, with just a bit of sealant in the stain it wouldn't end up looking like the BEFORE picture too soon. Easy project to spruce up your exterior decor...Check out Lowe's they have tons of options..

Fall In Love With Your Home Again...New Series

Hey bloggers & blogista's! We are back after a hiatus...Hayden Savoy has been working on a ton of projects both on our own and with our sister company Savoy the Socialite. We've got a ton of things to talk about, so make sure and check in. We would love to hear your comments.

We're starting a new series as an ode to the start of fall...WE LOVE FALL...the colors, cooler weather and of course fall fashion and home decor.. This is Part 1 of a 5 part series: Fall In Love With Your Home Again. We are going to blog about a fall refresh both inside and outside the home. First we are going to fall refresh the bedroom.

You can quickly update your bedroom for less than $1000...a new headboard is a real inexpensive way to completely redesign your bedroom space. West Elm just opened up a new store in my neighborhood and they had a awesome sale on headboards...this is what I got.

New bedding and pillows are also a great way to refresh your space...This duvet set from Target is only $29.99...yes, hard to believe... We glammed it up with some great velvet pillows in all jewel tones to glam up and warm up the space. We mined a couple of places for these..Home Goods, Target, Crate & Barrel and World Market.

Finally, we got a great throw from Kohl's for $119.00 to really put the room together.

See the finished product below....You like?

Next up.....deck re-do.....

Skinny Watch Alert!

Okay, my BFF (and business partner) called me in a panic last Friday because Gilt was having a sale on a  watch that she was hyperventilating about - yes, literally... Since she was in the car (love that safe driving!) she asked me could I get the watch for her online before the sale ended. Being the sweet BFF I am, I decided why not? Turns out she wanted one of the new skinny watches in the hot new colors for spring. She got the D&G watch, but turns out everyone is hot and heavy on these watches for Spring/Summer 2012. So I am calling out a Skinny Watch Alert! Take a look at some of our faves......

WOW! Dining Room

HaydenSavoy just completed a dining room for a client that wanted a a modern, contemporary feel that juxtaposed the sharpness and detail of masculine elements with the fullness and warmth of feminine details. The room was truly a blank slate and really brought in some of the "What's Hot Now" in design and decor. Also, with so much focus on green living we really wanted to see how far we could push ourselves using some high design, eco-friendly elements.

Great decor is so about taking a great concept, and then executing it well.

Acrylic makes space...

Space is an essential element in home decor. Using acrylic furniture not only creates interest but it creates space while pleasing the eye.  It is one of the hottest trends for celebrities and designers to use for decor.

CB2 has been one of our friend's in offering affordable acrylic decor pieces to our clients. We are able to make BIG impacts in small spaces.

Everything in this space feels big from the colors, natural elements and the acyrlic decor.
As our clients say, "I want a "WOW" room!...

Refresh, Renew & Recharge: "Declutter Your Life"

After watching way too many episodes of Hoarder's I feel slightly justified in my borderline OCD habit of organizing, purging and decluttering. But what really got me going is seeing the first blooms of spring on the trees outside of my office window today. Spring is coming! Spring signifies Renew, Refresh and Recharge. And what better way to do that than to de-clutter your life?

The March 2012 edition of O Magazine is focused on this very thing - 'De-Cluttering Your Life!' One of the articles by Meredith Bryan talks to Peter Walsh who is a Master Organizer and he highlights 5 different types of clutterers. Be honest, what type of clutterer are you? Or are you a combination of a few?

RSVP...Organizing with Invitations

__________________________________________________________
Organization is KEY when planning an event.  One of the primary elements to organization is having your guest RSVP.  RSVP means 'répondez s'il vous plaît', simply put...Respond Please.  The point of inputing RSVP on an invitation is to acquire a response from your guest.  This response is not only expected but necessary in the planning of the event. What can be organized by your guest sending a response back?
  • Number of guests
  • Planning the food quantity to order from the caterer
  • Booking a venue or appropriate space to accommodate the guests
  • Managing and booking guest lodging for the invitees
  • Planning the seating arrangements and more
Whether you decide to attend the event, it is proper ettiquette to reply with a response. Having guest RSVP is not just used with weddings but all events that require preparation with quanities and budgets.

HS Lifesyle Spotlight....Boutique Hotels

Every week Hayden Savoy is going to feature a lifesytle spotlight. We are going to feature what's hip, trendy and happening for the 21st century guy and girl. Let us know what you think....

I just returned from one of my favorite cities, Toronto. The vibe there is so unique. Toronto combines all of the things Hayden Savoy loves about the big cities of Europe, Asia and the US. They really get it right, a true melting pot with a real welcoming, eclectic vibe. While there I stayed in a great boutique hotel, the Cosmopolitan. Zen vibe, spa included. This is the hip, new thing in travel and there are some really great ones out there. Check out some of our favorites....

Organizing & Entertaining

As a modern day girl, we work, take care of the kids and entertain. Sometimes the expectations seem greater than our mothers.  We want to be the modern day girl who works, take care of the kids and entertain while being stylish and chic.  So, how do we do that? Try organizing your life with chalkboard placemats. These placemats can be used to entertain adult guest with discussion topics and placesettings. You can also use them for kids to help with math, spelling and drawing.

This idea is great for weddings, birthday parties, seminars & workshops...

Green or Yellow?

As we prepare for spring, we are in love with two colors this year: Green & Yellow....  We just wanted to show you how adding a pop of color can transform a room.
What color are you introducing to your home for the spring?

This is my colors for Spring 2012. Mirrored tables and all...

Organize with chalkboard paint

Colored chalk is a great way to add color and functionality to any room.  This is a great way to write reminders, shopping list, to do list, appointments and more.  Organize your family in style. This wood framed was coated with colored chalk paint.  So organizing is not so bad after all...

Guess Who?

As a team we offer a variety of approaches to decor and design.  One of us has a simplistic, elegant and  traditional taste and the other has an ecletic, modern and vintage taste.  Can you guess which one of us?
What I love about these inspirations, is the combination of both of our souls.  This reminds me of a project that we have already done. "Our House"
Actually, this is what makes us a dynamic duo.  Both of these pictures incorporates a stylistic approach that we have used in our personal homes. Now this is a couch that I would cross my legs, of course wearing red bottoms...
